Global virtual classrooms for higher education at the margins

Jesuit Worldwide Learning's innovative combination of learning in the community and online study brings the university to people in adversity.

Jesuit Worldwide Learning (JWL) aims to give people living in marginalised communities the chance to improve their life through tertiary education. The programme tackles multiple barriers to access through an innovative community-based blended online learning model. Students are taught in global virtual classrooms while taking part in a local community of learners where they can put their learning into practice.

Through JWL, we support over 500 scholarships for refugees and conflict-affected students from Afghanistan, Malawi, Northern Iraq and Jordan, giving them the opportunity to complete the Regis University accredited JWL Diploma in Liberal Studies. The courses teach critical thinking, leadership, community service and communication skills. Students can specialise in Education, Social Work or Business Administration, and there are opportunities for students to continue their studies after the Diploma by taking a JWL Associate or bachelor's degree.
